SBMS Education Lead Dr Aula Abbara joined a panel discussion at the VIII annual meeting on Syria as part of the Day of Dialogue in the EU Parliament – where several hundred civil society, humanitarian and policy makers met to discuss key issues on Syria at this critical time. She joined a panel of experts from WHO, Relief International, Syria Development Centre and HIS (Health Information System) on the panel ‘Triggering Meaningful Change: Investing in the Health Workforce in Syria.’
There were important topics covered around security, emigration, education, training, innovations, governance and workforce planning across Syria – recognised the work already done and key priorities moving forward across Syria. The work of excellent local organisations who support education were highlighted – particular SBOMS (Syrian Board of Medical Specialties) which supports training and accreditation in NW Syria.
